animalcollective Animal Collective celebrate Record Store Day

Experimental, Baltimore-based Animal Collective will mark Record Store Day 2012 (April 21st) with a new 12-inch, reports Consequence of Sound.

The new release entitled Transverse Temporary Gyrus will compile original tracks and their live renditions performed as part of a 2010 collaborative art installation/performance by AmCo with visual artist Danny Perez for New York’s Guggenheim Museum. An exclusive 24 x 36 foldout poster will be packaged with this 12-inch.

Also on April 21st, the band’s label Domino Records and its subsidiary Ribbon Music will unveil Smuggler’s Way: a 24-page zine featuring art and prose from select artists on their respective rosters. Previously unreleased music from Dirty Projectors, Real Estate, Cass McCombs and others — pressed on multi-colored flexi-discs — will be included as bonus inserts with the publication.
