Interview-With-Jeremy-of-Parlovr

Despite being described as having “a raging and raw power-pop sound that bullies Fountains of Wayne around the playground,” by SPIN and as a “beautiful mess of raw (but never ridiculous) emotion” by the  Montreal Mirror, Parlovr simply proclaim themselves to be a ‘sloppy pop’ band. Comprising Montrealer’s Alex Cooper, Louis David Jackson and Jeremy Maccuish (who were drawn together by a love of  ‘weird punk soul rock epic songs’), the trio recorded and first self-released their eponymous debut in 2008.

Deemed by many as a must-see live band, Parlovr have supported the likes of  Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Handsome Furs, We Are Wolves and others. Some readers may even remember them from performances at Pop Montreal, Osheaga, CMJ, SXSW, CMW or NXNE.

Releasing the 4-song EP Hell/Heaven/Big/Love in late 2010, Parlovr are in process of readying for the debut of their new LP, Kook Soul on May 15. Says band member Alex Cooper: “We kept going back to one of our favorite records, Flaming Lips’ Soft Bulletin, for production and sound ideas…That and a lot of other 50s stuff.”
