Earlier this month, we gasped when it was reported that Johnny Marr had announced his first proper solo LP, The Messenger, for release in February 2013. Today, we muffle tiny squeals of delight as he surprises us with a video for the title track.
It’s artsy (but not too artsy) in a tasteful black and white, high-contrast way and sees Johnny covering much varied terrain (symbolic much?) before finally disappearing into the darkness.
Marr, who’s recorded with The Smiths, Modest Mouse, Johnny Marr and the Healers, and The Cribs among others, will tour in support of his new record next March.
