Thanks to the Foo Fighters for putting this on our radar this morning: The official first look at the forthcoming Sound City documentary directed by Dave Grohl.

A passion project to be sure, Grohl has carried a torch for the famous San Fernando Valley recording studios since recording Nirvana’s Nevermind there when he was just 22 years old. Assembling literal legions of Sound City alum, he interviewed more than 200 people including John Fogarty, Lars Ulrich, Neil Young, Mick Fleetwood, Weezer and Trent Reznor, and personally coordinated special musical collaborations for its soundtrack.

Sound City will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival at Utah in January and will hit theatres in February.

(Um…is it February yet?)
